This year we will be honoring:

John and Arline Geaghan and their sons Peter, Larry and Pat Geaghan will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement  AwardIn 1975, John and Arline Geaghan opened John Geaghan’s Roundhouse Restaurant. Thus started the family tradition of hard work in an industry that would see many ups and downs over the years.  Larry, Peter, and Pat Geaghan have carried on the legacy of community and family while learning their trade and building Geaghan’s Pub into one of the most successful and longest established pubs in Maine. Champion the Cure will receive the award for Organizational Achievement. Since the first event in 2010, Northern Light’s Champion the Cure Challenge has raised more than $4.2 million and has brought thousands of supporters and participants to the Bangor Region to walk, bike, run, paddle or horseback-ride to raise money for local cancer research. Every dollar raised supports Northern Light Cancer Care services provided at the Lafayette Family Cancer Institute in Brewer. EAGLE AWARD SPONSOR: First National Bank

As director of the Bangor Parks and Recreation Department, Tracy Willette oversees a department that manages a wide variety of programs and facilities, including all parks and open spaces in the city. He is receiving the award for being a linchpin in facilitating logistics for CVB events, including the annual car show, beer and wine festival and auto rallies, as well as for numerous organizations in the region. The Maine Harvest Festival has experienced tremendous growth, from 50 vendors in 2010 to 200 in 2018, with attendance climbing from 3,000 to 8,500 as people celebrate “Farm-Fresh” at the Cross Insurance Center each November. As Producing Artistic Director for the Penobscot Theatre Company, Bari Newport is responsible for the creation and stabilization of a wide range of artistic initiatives including extensive work in new play development, education and community engagement.
