Collins Center for the Arts

Friends of Fort Knox

The Fort Knox State historic site features one of America’s best-preserved examples of seacoast fortifications constructed in the 1800s. The Penobscot Narrows Observatory, the tallest bridge observatory open to the public in the world, boasts breathtaking views of the Penobscot Bay area. Visitors to the observatory ride an elevator up 420′ feet on Maine’s fastest elevator for incredible views.

Beautiful Blackman Stream is at the center of the 1790’s style re-created village known as Leonard’s Mills, with a water-powered sawmill, covered bridge and a spring alewife run! “Modern technology” too–working steam Lombard loghauler and lots of other old machinery.
