Fall Foliage

The Greater Bangor area is your gateway to some of the best fall foliage viewing. The scenery around Katahdin, Moosehead Lake and Acadia National Park are beyond compare. The vast expanses of hardwood trees, such as maple, birch, oak and beech, create the colorful landscapes we all enjoy.

Bright crisp days and cool nights set the perfect stage for fun outdoor activities.  Set out on a beautiful bike ride along Acadia National Park’s Carriage Roads, or hike up a mountain to enjoy panoramic views of the season. Stroll along the banks of the Penobscot river in Bucksport after marveling at the view from the Fort Knox Observatory.

Pick your own apples or get try to find your way in a corn maze at one of Bangor Region’s farms. Grab some binoculars and watch for migrating birds and wildlife at a nearby preserve or sanctuary.  Or simply enjoy a scenic car ride to a quaint village for a farm-to-table lunch.  Whatever you decide to do, the beauty of the season will surround you!
