“ALL-IN-ONE” – Skiing, Yoga and Wildlife Interpretation
February 16 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join us at Hirundo with Maine Master Naturalist/Guide Gudrun Keszocze, Master Maine Guide/Ski Instructor Karen Francoeur from Castine Kayak Adventures, and Certified Om Land Yoga Instructor/Nature Lover Isis Bell-Smith.
In the warmth of the cabin, Isis will lead us through a simple practice focusing on yoga for skiing. It will improve our movement, flexibility, and resilience before and after our ski lesson.
In Ski Gear differences explained, Karen reviews ski types including length & width; waxable vs. waxless, camber; the importance of pole length; and lastly, ski boots. Find out about the various styles/systems that work the best!
Enjoy a yummy lunch next to the crackling fire in Hirundo’s Parker Reed Cabin by the pond, while learning about equipment differences before heading out on the trail.
Learn tips, tricks and techniques of classic skiing to refine your skiing abilities so you can embrace all that Maine winters have to offer. All levels welcome. Follow Karen’s lead through skills and drills along the trail.
Wildlife Interpretation – hone and share your observation skills. Knowing where to look and how to see can enrich your outdoor adventures! Gudrun will provide an introduction and then you are on your own collecting all the ‘objectives’ along Hirundo’s trails… on skis!
Groups welcome. Discount for groups of 6 or more available. Ski equipment NOT included. Maine Bound Adventure Center in Orono kindly offers reduced rental rates for participants. For details, call 207.581.1794.
