Readers Day at Bangor Public Library

August 6 @ 12:00 am

Join us for Readers’ Day on November 4th! Three of our reference librarians will have programs throughout the day to discuss nonfiction, mysteries, literary fiction, how to use our ebooks and online magazines, and searching for your next favorite book on the internet. These programs are open to readers of all ages!

All sorts of great offerings are going on all day-you can come to just one or spend the day with us!

10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (Lecture Hall) Reading Nonfiction for Pleasure and Entertainment: Bangor Public Library cardholders are avid readers of nonfiction books. What nonfiction genres are popular or trending?

11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Crofutt Community Room) Online Magazines, Ebooks and Audiobooks – FREE with
your BPL library card (repeated at 2:30 p.m.)

Did you know that your library card allows you to read over 70 magazines online, or download ebooks and audiobooks? And this is all free! Join us for a demonstration of Flipster (free magazines) and Maine InfoNet Download Library (ebooks & audiobooks).

11:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. (Lecture Hall) Genre Fiction—The Mystery! Do you enjoy a good mystery? Mysteries appeal to the intellect, often providing a riveting story, an escape from reality—pure entertainment!

Lunch Break 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Food and Drinks available for purchase in the Sage Café or you may bring your own lunch or visit a local restaurant.

1:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. (Lecture Hall) Looking For Your Next Book on the Internet: We’ll share several Internet sites, and some of our own electronic databases, designed to help readers find the next great book.

3:40 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. (Lecture Hall) Discover the Cream of the Crop in Literary Fiction for 2017: Literary Fiction separates itself from genre fiction because it’s not about escaping from reality; instead, it provides a better understanding of the world in which we live.
