Monday, February 22 at 3:00pm

This talk is available virtually via Zoom. Registration is required. Go to umaine.edu/mitchellcenter to register and receive Zoom connection information.

Speakers:Jean MacRae, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UMaine, and
Cindy Isenhour, Dept. of Anthropology, UMaine

New England is making progress toward a more circular food system, where food waste is reduced and recovered rather than sent to a landfill. These efforts are positive, but we also need to be careful to avoid introducing contamination into our food system during this process. Jean and Cindy will describe the results of a recent study on potential contaminants in food waste and how food waste can be reduced sustainably and safely.
