Three mornings of exciting activity–a learning experience that makes an end of the year field trip educational while being loads of fun!
Wagon rides around the 1790 recreated logging village–over the covered bridge and past the water-powered sawmill. Hands-on crafts and period demonstrations throughout the village area–blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, etc.
Alewives on the run up the fishway–by the 100,000s! NOAA staff will be there to help the kids net alewives at the dam and move them to the ladder–up close and personal with fish! ‘Pretend you are a fish’ obstacle course-learn about the obstacles to getting upstream.
Steam-powered Lombard log hauler–check out the first machine to use the lag track. A 1900 invention from Waterville, the machine weighs 20 tons with wood and water loaded and towed 300 tons of wood on iced roads–revolutionizing the lumbering industry.
